POLAND SPRING — Golf has been played at Poland Spring since 1896 and on Friday, June 21, a new addition to the Poland Spring Resort’s recreational offerings was opened.

The Poland Spring Golf Park, which was launched in 2011 with a 350-yard driving range, as well as a 9-hole disc golf course, has officially opened nine holes of an anticipated 18-hole mini golf course.

The first nine holes are ADA compliant and allow players of all abilities to be able to participate. The course was designed to have participants explore different historical elements of the town of Poland and the Poland Spring Resort while they enjoyed time with their family or friends.

Included in the historical interpretation are replicas of the Poland Rail Station,  which was converted into a private residence in the 1970s, the one-room schoolhouse that is now home to the Poland Historical Society, and the former water tower that stood atop Ricker Hill until it was replaced in 2006 with a smaller, more modern one. Historical references include Longfellow, the original name for Route 26 was Longfellow Trail, Caddy Camp, which was operated on the grounds from 1921-1965, and Ricker Road, named after the original family.
