KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii — Rose Marie Bergeron, 90, formerly of Lisbon, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, at her residence.

She was born Dec. 13, 1922, in Canada, the daughter of Alice and Paul Roy. Rose was one of 16 children growing up. She immigrated to the United States on a work visa to work in the local shoe factories in Lewiston in 1945 and married in 1948 to George Bergeron (deceased).

Rose worked at Central Maine General Hospital as a nurses’ aide caring for the infants in the maternity ward for many years. She then opened a restaurant called the Roseland in 1956, and the 3 D in Lewiston.

Rose enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping and taking care of her grandchildren.

Rose is survived by two children: Diane Contemprato and her husband, James, of Kailua, Hawaii; and Lisa Chasse and her husband, Michael, of Lisbon; four grandchildren, Michelle and Matthew Chasse of Lisbon, Bobby Laviolette of Lisbon Falls and Amber Bonefante of Colorado; and five great-grandchildren, Aidan, Kiana, Addison, Zander, and Christopher Jr.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
