1928 – 2013

AUBURN — Madeleine B. Boulay, 85, of Lewiston, died Wednesday, July 10, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Lewiston on April 15, 1928, the daughter of the late Ernest and Lydia (Labbay) Toussaint. On Feb. 14, 1945, she married Raymond A. Boulay, who died on March 10, 2008.

Madeleine worked at the family business for a number of years and later worked at Raytheon, RCA. She retired from Rockwell International in Lisbon in 1990.

Madeleine remained very active following retirement, obtaining her GED, one of her many accomplishments. She dedicated her time throughout the years to the parish she loved at St. Anne’s, which later became Holy Trinity Church in Lisbon Falls.

She taught CCD, preparing many children for their First Communion. She created and designed beautiful banners for her church and served as Eucharistic minister. She was a member of St. Paul’s Community Prayer Group in Augusta.

Madeleine touched the lives of all who knew her. Her most treasured moments were those spent with family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren being extremely close to her heart.

She lived life to the fullest and especially loved dining out and playing cards with her sisters and brother. She enjoyed traveling to Canada, Israel and Medjugorje, as well as taking cruises to the Caribbean. Most recently, she attended her granddaughter’s wedding in Jamaica.

She is survived by three children, Doris Grenham and her husband, Matthew, of Lewiston, Terry Goulet and her husband, Marc, of Lewiston, and Marc Boulay and his wife, Becky, of Winthrop; seven grandchildren, Angela Mara and her husband, Gary, of South Weymouth, Mass., Nichole Bouyea and her husband, Corey, of Lewiston, Katie Champagne and her husband, Nate, of Auburn, Mass., Danielle Goulet of Pittsfield, Mass., Krista Goulet of Lewiston, Randee Boulay of Winthrop, and Ben Boulay of Winthrop; seven great-grandchildren, Nolan Mara, Ella Bouyea, Graison Bouyea, Cohen, Chase and Reid Champagne and Matthew Grenham; one brother, Romeo Toussaint of Lewiston; seven sisters, Liane Moreau, Priscilla Jolicoeur, Marie Lefebvre, Sister Therese Toussaint, Lorraine Quintal, Connie Roy and Doris Saltis; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by husband, Raymond; and a granddaughter, Sara Goulet.

The family wishes to thank the staff at D3 at St. Mary’s Hospital and to Dr. Roger Austin and the staff at the Hospice House of Androscoggin for the wonderful care they have given to Madeleine.
