AUGUSTA (AP) — Maine Gov. Paul LePage is honoring some Maine veterans for their leadership and dedication to serving other veterans.
LePage gave World War II veterans Arnold Leavitt of Augusta and Estol “Mac” McClintock of Wellington the “Outstanding Veteran of the Year” awards last week.
His office says the certificates are given to veterans who “consistently go above and beyond for fellow veterans.”
The awards were handed out during a Commanders Call meeting on Thursday. LePage attended the meeting of representatives from Maine veteran’s service organizations to discuss current issues surrounding Maine’s veteran’s population.
