LIVERMORE — The town will receive $579 less in state road aid this year compared to the past several years.
Town officials were notified Monday that the amount to be received is $53,188 instead of last year’s $53,767, town administrative assistant Kurt Schaub said Wednesday.
Some towns are seeing larger reductions in road aid and others are seeing increases, he said.
The state also made a change in the way it disperses road funds. Instead of quarterly payments as have been issued in the past, the money will come in one lump sum in December, he said.
Local voters raised $260,000 in June to improve town roads this year.
The Road Committee met last week and added Israelson Road to the paving list for this summer, Schaub said. The road is off Turkey Lane.
The road has been prepped to be paved for several years but never paved. The committee decided it would be best to get a layer of pavement to preserve it, he said.
The cost will be about $40,000.
The road plan also calls for soliciting bids to remove rocks on Bowles and Hahn roads, both off Sanders Road. The roads were paved years ago but there is not much of it left, Schaub said.
About 1 foot of gravel will be added to the top of the roads. The request for bids has not gone out yet.
