WILTON — Members of the Wilton Fish & Game Assoc. are busy sprucing up the clubhouse and preparing for their annual open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at 240 U.S. Route 2.

Since receiving the NRA Foundation Grant, a well has been dug at the depth of 360 feet. Ron Ridley, Jeff Rowe and Corey Ridley have donated their valuable time to remove two major trees which were too close to the clubhouse. The kitchen is being restored with donated cabinets from a local family. In the near future the clubhouse will have running water and an ADA restroom.

The open house will begin at 9 a.m. with a shooting gallery and Gatling gun event that will be available until 4 p.m.

This is the annual fund raiser for the Rimfire and Firing Pins Competition League. Everyone is invited to test their shooting skills. The youth league director, Greg Roy, will be on site and anyone that is interested in the league is encouraged to come visit and ask for additional information. Ages for the league are 10 to 18 years old.

Also from 9 a.m. to noon visitors can try the 3 Gun Shooting Challenge on the trap range. This is great fun and a great opportunity to try different skills.

Charlie Tappan will be holding a trap shooting event from noon to 4 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to try shooting. Guns and ammo will be available for those who are new at the sport. Trap shooters are reminded to bring their own gun, ammo and hearing protection. This is a regular event that takes place on Monday nights at approximately 4:30 p.m., weather permitting.

The Rimfire and Firing Pins Competition Team will be on site to serve lunch. This is a fundraiser for equipment and expenses needed throughout the year.

The Wilton Fish & Game Assoc. meetings are held on the third Sunday of each month beginning at 6:30. Membership forms are available at the clubhouse and will be available at the raffle table downtown by Food City during the Blueberry Festival on Aug. 2 and 3. The fall raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the downtown site also.

This year there will be a Winner’s Choice prize. The lucky winner will pick from either a 12 gauge ATI over under shot gun, a bow package or a Kindle. Second-place prize will be a fishing pole donated by WF&G member Bruce Dyke. There will also be several door prizes such as gift certificates from Mosher’s Seafood and Douin’s Market, a cedar walking stick donated by WF&G member Warren Bryant and more.
