FAYETTE — A newly published e-book, “Echo Lake Trilogy,” features three short stories set on the shores of Echo Lake. A portion of the royalties earned through the online sale has been earmarked for the Underwood Library.

There is no need to purchase an e-reader as a free application may be downloaded so anyone with a computer, tablet or smartphone can read it at www.echolaketrilogy.weebly.com.

The public is invited to meet author Steve Gold at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Underwood Library.

Gold is a summer/fall resident of Fayette, although his own Echo Lake history began in the 1950s as a summer camper at Camp Winnebago. Some of those experiences, as well as later years at Winnebago with his family, are conveyed through the short story, “Circles.”

While the collection of stories is fictional, the places and historical events that are the settings for these stories are very real. “Submerged” draws from Revolutionary War events in Maine through the discovery of an artifact from that period of our history. The plot line of “The Vault” weaves a story that has its origin during the Prohibition Era.

The author is donating all of the proceeds from the sales of Echo Lake Trilogy to Fayette’s Underwood Library and to Camp Winnebago’s summer scholarship program.

The cost is $9.99 for Kindle, Nook or computer reading. Visit www.echolaketrilogy.weebly.com.
