DIXFIELD — Police are investigating a series of vehicle break-ins and destroyed mail boxes in the Webb River Drive, Bullrock Lane and Sugarloaf Avenue area.

Sgt. Jeff Howe said the crimes, believed to be connected, began at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, when a Webb River Drive resident reported someone was rummaging through the console of his vehicle. The person was chased off by the resident.

A short time later, a police officer discovered several destroyed mail boxes on nearby Bullrock Lane, as well as an open door of a vehicle. Reported missing from the vehicle were GPS, about $5 in change and a laptop computer. The items were recovered later that day near a pool at home around the corner on Sugarloaf Avenue.

Howe said it’s believed that when three teenage boys were spotted in the pool, they left quickly and didn’t take the items with them.

Police have suspects.
