1928 – 2013

PORTLAND — Shirley Deletetsky, 84, passed away Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Cedars Nursing Care Center.

She was born in Lewiston on Oct. 26, 1928, daughter of the late Myer and Raye (Kaplan) Deletetsky. Shirley was the 12th of 13 children who were born in this blended family.

She was a graduate of Edward Little High School in Auburn in 1947, then attended Bates College for two years. Shirley moved to Massachusetts after leaving Bates College and was employed as a proofreader for several different companies around the Boston area; she proofread books and ad copy.

She loved her time with family and friends, reading, traveling, movies and television.

She is survived by one sibling: a brother, Milton “Mickey” Deletetsky, and wife, Anne, of Auburn. Shirley was a loving aunt to more than 40 nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
