JAY — The boil-water order for Jay Village Water District customers was lifted Tuesday afternoon after tests came back, Superintendent Mike Wells said.
The district has had several waterline breaks in the Smith Avenue area adjacent to the Town Office.
The boil order was put into effect on Saturday when the fourth break occurred.
Wells said he was relieved to be able to lift the order.
The aging lines on Smith Avenue are slated to be replaced in 2014.
Jay Town Manager Ruth Cushman said several of the district’s customers, who were very angry over the situation, called her and selectmen.
The three water districts that serve Jay residents are independent and not part of the town government, she said.
