1940 – 2013

LEWISTON — Louise M. Curtis, 73, of Lisbon Falls, passed away peacefully Monday morning, Sept. 30, with her loving family by her side, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in spirit.

She was born in Damariscotta on June 13, 1940, a daughter of the late Roy and Marie (Hall) Paradis. She grew up in the Whitefield area and attended Whitefield Elementary School, Richmond High School and Erskine Academy. On Feb. 15, 1957, she married the love of her life, Gordon D. Curtis, and they started a family together.

Louise loved spending time with her family. It was one of her cherished passions. She also enjoyed her work in the medical field and provided service for more than 30 years as a medical assistant. Some of Louise’s other enjoyments were pressing flowers, gardening, spending time at the family camp in Leeds and snowmobiling.

She was a member of the Pejepscot Sno-Chiefs and the Lisbon High School Booster Club. An outstanding achievement that Louise accomplished was for the past 20 years, she has made more than 20,000 doughnuts for the World’s Greatest Sleigh Rides, which benefits the Pine Tree Society for Handicapped Children and Adults.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Gordon D. Curtis, of Lisbon Falls; her children, Layne and his wife, Phyllis, of Leeds, Deanna “Dee” Langley and her former spouse, Ed, of Scarborough, Sandra “Sandi” Dupre and her husband, David, of Greer, S.C., and Steven and his wife, Lisa, of Lisbon Falls; her three brothers and sister, Mitchell Hall and wife, Dianne, of Richmond, Roger, Richard and Gloria Paradis of Alabama and David Bibber of Texas; as well as 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her son, Kevin, in 2007; and her stepfather, William J. Bartlett.
