AUGUSTA — A country music jamboree to benefit the Bill Giasson Memorial Music Camp Scholarship Fund will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at the American Legion, Post 205, Rte. 17. Bob Elston & The Road Rangers will perform along with special guests. The event will include fundraising raffles, silent auction, door prizes, lunch and dancing.
This scholarship fund was set up by a group of grandparents. This summer’s 20 scholarship recipients were from Augusta, Bangor, Buckfield, Gardiner, New Gloucester, Pittston and Winthrop.
Giasson taught third grade in Winthrop for 19 years. He played guitar and sang country music most of his life. For 12 years, he moderated support groups in Augusta and Lewiston for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren.
Giasson passed away in 2012.
