ASHLAND, MASS. — Mary Ann T. (Amnott) Coffey, 86, died Sunday morning after a long period of failing health.
She was the wife of the late Thomas F. Coffey, who died in 2002.
She was born in Lewiston, the daughter of the late George and Agnes (Levesque) Amnott and lived much of her young life there.
For over 40 years she worked as a telephone operator for the former New England Telephone, which became AT&T and later Verizon. She was a long-time member of the Pioneers Club of New England Telephone and for 10 years was an active member of St. Anne’s Church in Southborough, Mass. Mary Ann was dedicated to her family, her church and Roman Catholic faith, especially in her special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
She is survived by one son, James Coffey, of Hopkinton, Mass.; one daughter, Theresa Kerestzes, of Wellesley, Mass.; one brother, Norman Amnott, of Arizona; one sister, Irene Giguere, of Florida; five grandchildren, Bridget, Caroline, Meredith, Ava and Stephen; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
