1922 – 2013

AUBURN — Anna M. Mathieu, 91, formerly of Harmons Corner Road, Auburn, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice. She previously resided at Clover Manor.

She was born in Sainte-Agnes, PQ, Canada on April 30, 1922, daughter of the late Alyre and Florida Maheux Turmel. She was educated in Lewiston schools and was married on Oct. 18, 1941, to Dolard J. Mathieu, who predeceased her on Jan. 12, 2008.

Anna was employed in the spinning rooms at Pepperrell and Bates Manufacturing and later retired from Belle Moc Shoe in 1962. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Family Church.

She enjoyed taking long walks, music and painting, but mostly enjoyed her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Jeanne Arneault and husband, Ronald, of Lewiston; three sons, Paul Mathieu and wife, Jeanne, John Mathieu and wife, Beatrice, all of Lewiston, and Leo Mathieu and wife, Sue, of Plano, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rita Montgomery of Lewiston, and Gracia Lobiser and husband, Richard, of Milton, Mass.; and a brother, Albert Turmel and wife, Jackie, of Baltimore, Md.

The family thanks the staffs at Clover Manor, Central Maine Medical Center and Androscoggin Home Care for their excellent care and compassion.
