1916 – 2013

AUBURN — Charlotte Corning Wright passed on suddenly and peacefully on Friday, Oct. 4, in her home.

A 1938 graduate of Bates College and Yale School of Nursing in 1941, she married the Rev. M. Webb Wright in 1942. She was on the cutting edge of nursing, including developing a ground-breaking program in Oncology Nurse Education funded by a grant from the National Cancer Institute. She was part of planning at Yale New Haven Hospital to bring hospice to this country.

She is survived by her daughters, Anne and Nancy Shantia and their families; and by well-loved nieces, cousins, dear friends, colleagues and many “family members of the heart.”
