1926 – 2013
GREENE — Napoleon J. Grivois Jr., 86, formerly of 25 Martha Ave., Lewiston, died Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Meadows Assisted Living Center in Greene, where he had been a resident for the past year and a half.
Born in Waterville on Dec. 12, 1926, he was the son of Napoleon and Josephine (Parent) Grivois Sr. Educated in Auburn schools, he was a World War II veteran, serving in Europe with the U.S. Army. After the war, he returned to the local area, and on Nov. 8, 1952, he married the former Gertrude Croteau in Saints Peter and Paul Church. Gertrude passed away on May 2, 2005. Always very good with his hands, Napoleon was a skilled tailor, carpenter and woodworker. He worked for many years as a carpenter, and, following his retirement, he built an exact scale model of his house just to keep busy.
Survivors include a son, Paul and wife, Bettina, of Lewiston; a sister, Jackie and husband, Fern Bussierre, of Tennessee; a grandson, Ryun Grivois of Saco; and several nieces and nephews.
