Church Women United to meet

OTISFIELD — Church Women United will meet at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at the Community of the Resurrection.

World Community Day will be celebrated with the program, “Walking Through the Doors of Opportunity.” Refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

Fish and Game to serve breakfast

OXFORD — A Hunter’s Breakfast will take place from 4:30 to 7 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Lake Thompson Fish and Game Club. Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

AARP chapter to have demonstration

PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter, AARP, will meet on Monday, Nov. 4, at the First Congregational Church, East Main Street, South Paris.

Lunch will be served at noon, and Swedish meatballs with veggies and dessert will be on the menu. The cost is $6.50 and reservations are required by calling Ruth at 744-9069 by Friday, Nov. 1.

The business meeting will begin at 1 p.m. and members are reminded to bring their donations for the Food Pantry. The program will feature Denise Whitley, a representative from the Heart Association, who will demonstrate “Hands-Free CPR.”

Oxford Hills bridge winners

OXFORD — Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met Oct. 25 in the Recreation Building, King Street, where an eight-table Mitchell movement was played.

A club appreciation game was held and the winners were as follows: N/S flight A, Paul Kahl, Westbrook, and Mike Quinn, Otisfield; second, Nancy Farmer, Norway, and Mike Newsom, Norway, who were first in flight B; third, Denise Whitley, Norway, and Richard Balian, Waterford, who were second in flight B; fourth, Norma and Rick Verrill, Westbrook, who were third in flight B.

First in flight C were Jim Krainin, Naples, and Milt McKeen Jr., Bridgton; second, Cindy and Bob Kirchherr, South Paris; third, Eleanor and Lindy Wigton, Lewiston.

Finishing first E/W flight A were Rosemarie Goodwin, Lewiston, and Luke Merry, New Gloucester; second, Carol Curran, Waterford, and Helen Glazier, Norway, who were first in flights B and C; third in A, Denny Raymond, Waterford, and Hank Sakriston, Poland, who were second in flights B and C; fourth, Barbara Newcomb, Portland, and Joanne Skinner, Portland, who were third in flights B and C.
