A Jay Highway Department crew worker regrades gravel Monday in the parking lot at the highway garage while workers from Precision Tanks Inc. of Jay work on putting in new fuel pumps. The company removed underground diesel tanks and installed an above-ground dual-compartment tank to hold 11,000 gallons of diesel and 4,000 gallons of gas. Precision Tanks bid $93,490 for the project. Residents voted to transfer up to $100,000 from the town’s undesignated fund to cover the expense. All town departments will be able to get fuel at the garage, including police. The pumps are expected to be online the first of next week, Highway Foreman John Johnson said.
