MPBN one-day pledge drive

LEWISTON — The Maine Public Broadcasting Network is holding a Super Thursday One-Day Pledge drive on Thursday, Nov. 7. The on-air drive will run from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., and online donations can be made throughout the day starting at midnight.

The primary objective of the pledge campaign is to secure the necessary support for MPBN while interrupting radio programming as little as possible.

Listeners and supporters can make a donation by calling 1-800-866-1475 or by clicking “Support” on www.mpbn.net.

Stamp-A-Stack card-making

PARIS — The annual Christmas Stamp-A-Stack card-making event will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, 477 High St.

Make 18 cards with six different designs. Materials, snacks and beverages will be supplied. Cost is $25. Register by Nov. 7.

Lewiston Bridge Club winners

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge Club winners at the Lewiston Armory on Nov. 4 were as follows: first, Jan and Vern Arey; second, Larry Fortier and Rosemarie Goodwin; third, Nancy Farmer and Patricia Quinn; fourth, Donna Bartlett and Sue Kaluzynski; first in B and C, Donna Bartlett and Sue Kaluzynski; second/third tie in B, Marta Clements and Hazel Glazier with Cynthia and Bill Clifford.

Winners on Nov. 5 were: first Patricia Garcia and David Lock; second, Jan Arey and Sue Kaluzynski; third, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer; fourth, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe; first in B, Marta Clements and Nancy Farmer; second in B/first in C, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe.

The club celebrated Sue Kaluzynski’s 96th birthday.

Free turkey dinner on Nov. 15

NORWAY — The Second Congregational Church will serve a free turkey dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, in the church’s dining room at 205 Main St. Everyone is welcome.

This is part of the ongoing free supper program offered by the church on the third Friday of every month except August.

Thanksgiving dinner, stuff swap

OTISFIELD — A community Thanksgiving dinner and stuff swap will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Otisfield Community Hall, Route 121.

Menu will include roast turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, squash, cranberries, apple crisp, coffee, tea, cider. Meal is free, donations accepted.
