1920 – 2013

BANGOR — Myra F. Bowley, 93, of Winterport, passed away Monday, Nov. 18, at a Bangor hospital.

Myra was born in Winterport on July 26, 1920, to Fred and Carrie (Holmes) Woodman. Myra was a lifelong resident of Winterport, where her world was centered around Ellingwood Corner. She was a lifelong member of the Ellingwood Corner United Methodist Church and was a member of the Sunrise Grange, which is where she met her husband, Edwin. Together they raised three daughters.

Myra enjoyed her home, knitting mittens and baby blankets, as well as traveling with her husband, but most of all she loved to cook. She was famous for her whoopie pies, lemon pies and will be most remembered for her brown bread, which was a staple at church suppers. Myra will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt and friend.

Myra is survived by her loving children, Farilyn VanCleef and husband, Frank, of North Haven, Conn., Edwina Soule of Winterport and Bonita Brushwein and husband, Robert, of Auburn; grandchildren, Delyn Arey, Kristy Marquis and husband, John, Beth Meikle and husband, Jim, Angela Rogers and husband, William, Andrew Soule, Carrie Dunbar and Heidi Gardner and husband, Jacob; several great and great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Myra was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 53 years, Edwin H. Bowley; and all of her siblings.
