LEWISTON — The Lewiston Development Corporation Board of Directors held its annual meeting Sept. 18, celebrating 61 years of community involvement and success.
“It was just one year ago we were completing our work with a major transportation company that brings thousands of dollars in important real estate tax and excise revenues to the city of Lewiston,” said Chris Logan, Lewiston Development Corp. board president and chief lending officer and executive vice president for Androscoggin Bank. “That is just one success story in a long line of accomplishments this organization has made.”
Referencing work the organization did dating back to the 1950s, Logan said that without LDC’s involvement in building the Lewiston Industrial Park and assisting other well-known companies including Geiger, the benefits that come from those businesses wouldn’t exist today for the community.
“As we continue to explore economic development initiatives that spur growth in our community, it’s important to recognize that this type of work never stops,” said Logan. “As a volunteer board it’s important to remember that our say as business professionals, who live and work in the city, has influence.”
The nominating committee re-elected several officers and board members. The officer roster is: Chris Logan, of Androscoggin Bank, to serve as president; Chris Branch, of Sebago Technics, as vice president; Maureen Aube, of the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce, as secretary; and Paul Labrecque as treasurer. Members Norm Lamie of the State of Maine Drinking Water Program, Anne Torregrossa of Brann & Isaacson, and Peter Traill were all elected to serve additional four-year terms.
Founded in 1952, the Lewiston Development Corp. is a private, nonprofit corporation with 16 representatives from Lewiston and Auburn working to promote civic improvement and to foster and preserve the free enterprise system.
