1931 – 2013

LEWISTON — William N. Lafleur, 82, of Lewiston, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, at his residence.

Born in Rumford on July 22, 1931, he was the son of William F. and Yvette Beaudry Lafleur. Educated locally, he joined the U.S. Army in 1948. He served in Korea, Vietnam and in the Army of Occupation in Germany, before retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 2 in 1968.

Following his military service, he worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 more years, before retiring.

He is survived by a granddaughter, Sarah Reddick of Bartlett, Tenn.; a grandson, John Goelz of Bartlett, Tenn.; a son-in-law, Jack Goelz of Bartlett, Tenn.; two brothers, Gerard of Connecticut and Richard of California; a sister, Claire Lapham of Virginia; two great-grandsons, Parker and Logan Haase; and numerous nieces and nephews, especially Ray and Carol Spencer, who he was very close to.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Goelz; a brother, Paul; and three sisters, Ann, Lorraine and Carmen.
