BANGOR — A storm bearing 30 mph winds, gusting up to 45 miles per hour, and torrential downpours brought an unpleasant surprise to downtown Bangor massage therapist and yoga instructor Eric Sirois on Wednesday afternoon. At around noon, a particularly large gust of wind knocked a single panel storm window out of its frame on the third floor of his 9 Central Street studio and onto the sidewalk and street below.

The glass from the window shattered all over the pavement, though fortunately, because of the weather, no one was walking immediately underneath or sitting at lunch spot Giacomo’s outdoor tables.

Sirois was getting ready to leave for lunch when he heard the crash.

“I was sitting at my desk, getting ready to head out, and all of a sudden I heard a crash, saw glass rush by, and then felt a breeze,” said Sirois, who owns and operates Om Land Massage and is an instructor at Om Land Yoga on Central Street. “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the window, it was just really windy.”

An employee of Giacomo’s could be seen sweeping up the glass after the crash.
