STRATTON — The annual lighting of the Stratton-Eustis Community Christmas tree will start this year’s holiday season in Northern Franklin County. The festivities will start at 5 p.m. at the Diamond Corner B & B at the junction of Routes 27 and 16 on Saturday, Dec. 7.
The residents of the community believe that this spruce tree might be the tallest living, lighted Christmas tree in the county and possibly the state. “At well over 80 feet tall, the tree is an impressive sight when fully lighted,” said King Lion, Neil Iverson. “And I hope everyone in the community will join in the celebration this year.”
The Lions Club will provide hot beverages and cookies while leading everyone in traditional holiday carols before the tree is lit at 5:30.
The Stratton School eighth-grade class will be selling Christmas trees as a class fund-raiser throughout the evening.
This year’s celebration is sponsored by The Cathedral Pines Campground, the Stratton-Eustis Fire Department, Diamond Corner B & B and the Stratton-Eustis Lions Club.
