FARMINGTON — The Website Design Committee is taking suggestions for additions to the new town website, www.farmington-maine.org
The site went online within the past couple of weeks, Town Manager Richard Davis said Tuesday. Some people have made suggestions for it, and the Website Design Committee is open to them, he added.
Along with colorful pictures from around town, the website offers better access and information to town departments, screening of selectmen meetings, calendars and general information about the town and its business.
The intent is to allow residents to make payments for licenses, permits and other fees via the website.
“We should be able to accept payments during 2014, perhaps by summer,” Davis said.
Selectmen approved a $10,700 bid in June from ezSite Content Management Systems of Bellevue, Wash., to redesign the website based on the committee’s recommendation.
The board also approved taking the funds from the assessor’s property valuation account, which had more than $80,000, to pay for the new design.
Its recommendation was based on the company’s professional proposal, ability to work with all computer platforms and integrate into the town’s system. The board also was looking toward the value of product they expect to receive, Davis said at the time.
Proposals for the redesign ranged from $4,000 to $53,000.
Members of the Website Design Committee included James House, police Deputy Chief Shane Cote, Mark Caldwell, Cindy Gelinas and Davis.
