About 30 people milled about the Boofy Quimby Memorial Center in Turner, stopping to see vendors’ wares.

One vendor sold black velvet and lace clothing, incense and crystals. Another offered a personalized numerology chart, while others gave tarot card readings.

A line five people deep waited for a psychic reading from Bonnie Lee, as another medium had an intense, one-on-one discussion with a patron.

Becky Grant of Livermore started Community Awakening Holistic Fairs almost a year ago in March, rotating among Lewiston, South Paris and Turner every other month. She hopes to start a fair in Saco or Kittery next.

“It’s a good group of like-minded people,” Grant said of the 25 vendors packing the building.

Grant started at a young age on her road to spirituality. She was sensing things around the age of 9 and started asking her mother questions. It led to a life of Reiki healing and integrated energy therapy. She and her husband, Michael, also offer tension tuning and aura photography at the fairs.

“Spirituality is my belief that there is something more out there, that there is something beyond this,” Grant said. She calls on spirit guides in Reiki healings, using her third eye to visualize where a client might be having a problem, she said.

First-time holistic fair-goer Meghan Hunt of Winthrop said she thought she would try a variety of vendors to “explore new avenues.”

“I went to a psychic, a medium, had my tarot cards read and my numerology chart done,” Hunt said. “Most of it was just confirming. There was happy news in areas of your life you want happy news.”

She was shocked that two of the readers mentioned a small boy to her.

“I have a friend who lost one of her twin boys and she’s been having a hard time with it lately,” Hunt said. She believed this was the boy mentioned.

“She’s like a sister to me, so I will let her know he’s doing OK,” Grant said.

The next fair will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at the Ramada Inn in Lewiston. The entry fee is $5.
