1928 – 2014

LEWISTON — Barbara E. Driscoll, 85, of Poland, died Saturday, Jan. 25, at Central Maine Medical Center.

She was born in Poland on Dec. 26, 1928, the daughter of Millard F. and Stella Somerset Lane of Poland. Barbara attended a one-room school in Poland and graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in 1947. Barbara had been a self-employed beautician for many years.

She was an 80-year member of Excelsior Grange, serving as past master, pianist and multiple other offices. She enjoyed many hobbies, but she especially loved her cats. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Barbara is survived by one sister, Jean L. Benson, of Poland; a sister-in-law, Rosalie Hames; a brother-in-law, William Driscoll; two nephews, Scott A. Benson and Steven T. Benson (Lisa); two nieces, Cynthia J. Wardwell (George), all of Poland, and Karen B. Shealy (Benjamin) of Lexington, S.C.; several grand and great-nieces and nephews; two stepchildren, Stephen Driscoll (Althea) and Diane Harvey; and she was grandmother to loving grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Steven C. Benson, in December 1969; and her second husband, Daniel W. Driscoll, in January 1998.
