1959 – 2014

JAY — Maynard A. Baxter, 54, of Jay, died unexpectedly, Monday, Jan. 27, at his home in Jay.

Maynard was born on Dec. 30, 1959, in Farmington, a son of William Baxter and Phyllis (Fournier) Pomeroy. He attended Wilton and Farmington schools, graduating from Mt. Blue High School.

His work history included Forster Manufacturing in Wilton; managing the Papoose Pond Resort and Campground in Waterford; a local canteen service that accommodated local businesses; managing the Hometown Market in East Wilton; and food service at the Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

He was a member of the AMVETS in Jay and was a former member of the Wilton Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool, trips to the casino and time spent with his family, friends and his beloved cat, Molly.

Maynard is survived by his mother, Phyllis Pomeroy and her husband, Harold; brothers, Bill Baxter and his wife, Debbie, of Leeds, Ted Baxter and his wife, Cheryl, of Farmington, and Ed Baxter and his wife, Jodie, of Farmington; nieces and nephew, Jennie MacIsaac, Jamie Baxter, Scott Baxter and Amy Baxter; great-nieces and great-nephews, Addison Decker, Cameron and Kyle Couture, and Andrew and Gabriella Nuzzo.

He was predeceased by his father, Bill, in 1967; and his grandmother, Arlene Hiltz.
