LIVERMORE FALLS — Treat Memorial Library has announced that it has all the Maine Student Book Award nominees for 2013-14.

The Maine Student Book Award is designed to expand literary horizons of students in grades four to eight by encouraging them to read, evaluate and enjoy a selection of new books and to choose a statewide favorite by written ballot each spring.

The ballot for this year’s Maine Student Book Award is posted on the left sidebar of the webpage: http://msba.umeedu.maine.edu/.

April 1 is the deadline for the submitting the ballot. In the catalogue (https://treat.biblionix.com/atoz/catalog/), type in MSBA in the search window for a list of the books.

The library staff is encouraging students in grades four to eight to read books from the list and cast their vote by the due date.

As tax time approaches, residents have an opportunity to support public libraries using Schedule CP – Charitable Contributions and Purchase of Park Passes. Schedule CP is associated with Maine Income Tax Forms and is used to make specific charitable contributions.

Funds raised last year were used to purchase hundreds of new eBooks for the Maine Download Library through Overdrive.

Elsie’s Re-Read Used Book Emporium is once again stocked with books. The annual weeding of the library’s collection has been completed and the discarded items (plus some donated ones) fill the shelves.

For the time being, the best hours to visit the emporium are Tuesdays from 1 to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 1 to 5 p.m. Prices are 50 cents for DVDs, VHS, and CDs; 25 cents for paperbacks; and whatever persons wish to pay as a donation for the rest.

Pre-School Story Time is every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Family Story Time is every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Join Miss Cindy in the Auditorium for music, stories, crafts and fun.

The Knit/Crochet Group meets every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The fourth Tuesday of the month, instructors are available for anyone who wishes to learn to knit or crochet. Experienced crafters are invited to bring whatever they are working on and join the group.
