AUGUSTA (AP) — Republican Gov. Paul LePage’s administration says Maine’s auto and homeowners insurance rates are the lowest in New England and among the lowest in the country.
The Maine Bureau of Insurance is pointing to recently released reports from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners that show Maine’s average premium is among the most affordable.
The group ranks Maine as 3rd in national rankings of lowest average auto insurance premiums. Maine’s ranked 11th nationally in home owners’ insurance premiums.
Superintendent Eric Cioppa says the state’s low auto insurance rates reflect “the healthy competitiveness of the auto insurance market in Maine.”
