LEWISTON — Rufus E. Ham, 80, died Friday, Feb. 28, at CMMC after a brief illness.

He was born May 8, 1933, to Everett and Vivian Ham. His childhood was spent in Lisbon Center. He attended local schools and graduated in the Class of 1951.

He briefly served in the U.S. Army, but had to return home on a compassionate discharge to assist his mother and siblings after the passing of his father. He worked 39 years for Central Maine Power Company between the Brunswick and Lewiston districts.

He married Nancy Reynolds on July 8, 1955, and was a strong family man, always helping family, friends and neighbors and always looking forward to family gatherings.

He was a 50-plus-year member of the Ancient York Masonic Lodge in Lisbon Falls and a member of the Kora Shriners in Lewiston.

The coffee pot is always on at the Ham home and has always been a place of gathering for the many friends and family to visit and partake in any of the latest “hot topics.”
