BANGOR — Police are seeking help locating a suspect they say stole a car from the Holiday Inn parking lot on Odlin Road on Thursday morning then collided with another vehicle on I-395 near the Farm Road exit.

According to a release from Bangor police Sgt. Catherine Rumsey, police received a report at 6:24 a.m. of a black 2005 Pontiac GTO stolen from the Holiday Inn parking lot. At around the same time, reports came in of a crash on I-395 near the Farm Road exit. There, they found the stolen Pontiac wrecked and abandoned.

Witnesses told police the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit another car, causing both to crash, according to Rumsey. The suspect, described as a tall, thin, white male wearing an “orange-ish” puffy jacket, flagged down another car, which took the Farm Road exit.

The driver of the car the suspect struck was injured and transported to a local hospital, Rumsey said.

The Bangor Police Department is looking for any witnesses, and especially the driver who drove the suspect from the scene of the crash.

Anyone with helpful information is asked to to contact the Bangor Police Department at 947-7384. Witnesses you would like to remain anonymous can call the department’s tip line at 947-7384, Ext. 6.
