1946 – 2014
AUBURN — Richard L. Chick, 67, of Poland, died at Hospice House on Friday, March 7, after a long illness.
He was born Nov. 8, 1946, the son of Linwood and Leah (Gagnon) Chick. He graduated from South Berwick High School and earned his public management degree from the University of Maine. He was the town manager of Poland for 34 years and worked in retirement as a substitute bus driver for RSU 16. He served 8 years in the New Hampshire National Guard. On Nov. 28, 1970, he married his college sweetheart, Gayle Couture. They just celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on the island of Maui, Hawaii.
He is survived by his wife, Gayle of Poland; daughter, Julie and husband, David Mastrianno, of Augusta; granddaughter, Leah; grandsons, Brandon and Kyle; brother, Lee Chick and wife, Ann, of Bangor; one niece and two nephews.
