LIVERMORE FALLS — The RSU 73 board has begun interviewing several of the eight applicants for superintendent.

Board Chairwoman Denise Rodzen said the 19-member search committee reviewed each of the applications and scheduled interviews this week. She declined to say how many are being interviewed.

Superintendent Robert Wall has announced he will retire at the end of the this school year. He has led the district 2011. Prior to that, he was superintendent of Jay for several years.

Rodzen said visits to candidates’ current workplaces are likely.

Wall has agreed to stay on if his replacement is not found by July 1.

Rodzen said if none of the candidates meet the criteria, the Superintendent Search Committee will either readvertise or take another look at the current applicants for possible interviews.

The committee is comprised of board members and staff from the district’s schools and bargaining units.

Among the skills the committee is looking for are those involving community relations, communication, personnel management, facilities, budgeting, organization and school/community involvement.

RSU 73 member towns are Livermore Falls, Livermore and Jay.
