LEWISTON — Central Maine Medical Center’s Health and Fitness Center is offering the following group exercise programs during its early spring session.

Bokwa: Bokwa is a new approach to group exercise for participants of all ages. This energizing cardio routine is set to today’s popular music and features moving to the Bokwa L, 3, J and K patterns, as well as dozens of other steps. The six-week class is led by instructor Adriane Kramer and will be held Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Cardio Sculpt: This ongoing series combines low-impact moves with weight training targeting major muscle groups while addressing hard-to-reach spots. The routine includes extensive floor work. Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. with Ian Barclay.

Core and Sweat: This ongoing series lead by Ian Barclay features weight training that targets major muscle groups while addressing hard-to-reach spots. The routine includes extensive floor work. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 to 9 a.m.

Fit ‘N’ Fun: Entertaining exercise for the over-55 crowd. Join instructor Michele Lamare to improve aerobic capacity, strength, flexibility, balance and coordination. This ongoing class is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Fit60: A full-body workout featuring circuit resistance and interval training, concentrating on functional living movements, core strengthening, boosting metabolism and multiple muscle movements with high repetitions for lean, toned results. Brandi Eastman will lead these classes, which are offered on Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m.

Functional Fitness: Learn to increase both core and upper-body strength and improve the stability of abdominal and low-back muscles. Participants will discover how to prevent injury due to improper body mechanics and repetitive motion. Fridays from noon to 12:30 p.m.

Happy Hearts and Lungs: A class designed for people with a “cardiac event” history or pulmonary disease who have completed a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program and are looking for a “maintenance” program. The class includes general supervision and individual, independent cardiovascular and strength training. It also incorporates group weight training and self-safety skills. One-hour classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Lunch Crunch!: Join instructor Lin Bourque for a new lunch-hour class to help burn calories and sculpt muscles. A full-body workout that will send participants back to work fully energized. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m.

Personal Fitness: Begins with a one-on-one evaluation and program development session with a personal health counselor, then progresses to a structured group exercise plan. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Pilates: This ongoing class challenges the trouble areas: hips, thighs and triceps, as well as the abdominal and back “core” areas. Most exercises are performed on a mat. Mats and light weights are provided. Thursdays from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m., with Jen Swift.

Power Plus: Functional weight and mobility training to increase flexibility and strength, resulting in lean muscle (not bulk). Build core strength and improve balance by incorporating every muscle group. Finish with a gentle cool down and stretch. This ongoing class is led by Rick Jalbert on Tuesdays from 5 to 6 p.m.

Step Aerobics: A heart-pumping, muscle-moving workout that alternates step with muscle work. Led by Sue Driscoll, this cardio workout is a head-to-toe body strengthener. Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.

Step Express: Stop in for some sensationally scintillating and stimulating step aerobics. Twenty-five minutes of fun, fancy footwork following with five fabulous minutes of functional flexibility finishers. With Rick Jalbert from noon to 12:30 p.m. on Mondays.

Tone-N-Tighten: Instructor Lin Bourque leads this 90-minute total body workout that utilizes a combination of dumbbells, bands, aerobic bars and stability balls to tone the hips, gluteals, abdominals, legs and upper body. This ongoing class will be held on Saturdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Yoga: Discover the benefits of an alignment-based yoga practice where participants will gain strength and flexibility in body, mind and spirit. Intelligent alignment principles and a positive and uplifting yogic philosophy can help attendees soar through practice with grace, poise and ease. This is an all-levels class and instructor Tisha Bremner will offer modifications to support each student through a safe and effective practice. Tuesdays from 4:45 to 6 p.m. and 6:30 to 7:45 p.m., and Thursdays from 5 to 6:15 p.m.

Yoga — Relax and Restore: Reduce stress and gain a deeper sense of balance and calm. This gently paced class combines meditation, breath work, as well as therapeutic and restorative yoga poses to enhance a sense of calm well-being. Open to all experience and ability levels. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. with instructor Tisha Bremner.

Zumba: This Latin-inspired dance exercise program uses a variety of basic dance styles set to international music such as merengue, salsa and reggaeton. Using principles of aerobic-fitness interval training and resistance training, Zumba is great for burning calories (up to 500 per class) while sculpting and toning the body. This six-week program is led by Cynthia Nicholas. Mondays from 5 to 6 p.m.

All programs are offered in the CMMC Health and Fitness Center, 12 High Street Medical Office Building.

Fees must be paid prior to beginning the program. Class registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Membership in the CMMC Health and Fitness Center is open to the public. In addition to group fitness, the center features fitness equipment and offers personal training services, massage therapy and fitness evaluations.
