LIVERMORE FALLS — Police said a Jay man was adamant that the marijuana police found in the car he was driving was not his because he had just stolen the car.

Douglas Glidden, 25, was charged Sunday night with felony operating under the influence, and felony counts of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and violating condition of release. He was also charged with a misdemeanor count of operating with a suspended or revoked license and a civil violation of possession of a useable amount of marijuana, police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. said Monday.

Lt. Joseph Sage and officer Steve Wilkinson responded at 11:16 p.m. to a disturbance in the Meadowbrook Road area and found Glidden driving a vehicle. When they pulled up beside him, the vehicle took off but stopped shortly after, Steward said.

Police were arresting Glidden when they learned the car he was driving was reported stolen from Meadowbrook Road, the chief said. When police found the marijuana, Glidden told them he had just stolen the car and the marijuana wasn’t his, Steward said.
