MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Police say the driver of a Jeep has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after he ran out of gas on Interstate 93 in Manchester, N.H., and was struck by a tractor-trailer, ejecting him from the vehicle.
Twenty-five-year-old Matthew Davis of Plaistow told police he was unable to push his Jeep off the road at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday on I-93 northbound near the exit 6 off ramp in Manchester. He was thrown into a barrier separating the northbound and southbound lanes. He was in serious, but stable condition Thursday afternoon.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, 56-year-old Wesley Basler of Richford, Vt., also was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
State police say speed and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in the crash.
