PORTLAND — WMTW-TV is moving its downtown Portland studio to a “broadcast-ready studio” in Westbrook this fall.
The TV station announced Wednesday that it’s moving into a facility that’s large enough to eventually house all of its operations under one roof. The station currently has a headquarters in Auburn and studios in Portland.
Greg Roehr, WMTM’s director of engineering, said the logistical challenges of having two operations 35 miles apart “were at the core of our decision to make these changes.”
The station, owned by Hearst Television, has anchored its newscasts from Portland’s Time and Temperature building for 15 years. Dave Abel, president and general manager, said there was no timetable for moving operations in Auburn. The 20,500-square-foot facility was originally built for another TV station.
