JAY — The town plans to hire a temporary, part-time worker to help Larry Wright take care of the grounds of the town and the cemeteries.

The job runs from May 5 to June 30, selectperson Chairman Steve McCourt said April 14.

The money for the position for the rest of the summer was cut during deliberations of the proposed $5.54 million budget in March.

Members of the Highway Department are expected to help Wright take care of the grounds and cemeteries beginning July 1.

Applications are available at the Town Office and will be accepted until April 25, McCourt said.

The hired person will begin work on May 5 at $7.50 an hour, he said.
