AUBURN — The entire length of Gracelawn Road will be closed Saturday morning to accommodate the inaugural Commit to Get Fit Challenge organized by St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

The event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Auburn Medical Building on the corner of Gracelawn and Turner Street, with runners/walkers competing in 3K, 5K and 10K courses.

The longest race will start first and move in a loop from the medical building down Gracelawn, turning right on Mount Auburn Avenue, right on Summer Street, left on Youngs Corner Road, left on Hotel Road, left on Lake Street, left on Park Avenue, right on Mount Auburn Avenue and right on Gracelawn back to the medical building. The other races will include some, but not all, of the same course.

Motorists should expect delays on race roads and surrounding streets and are urged to use caution.

Same-day registration is available Saturday morning starting at 7 a.m.

There will be a fun obstacle course for kids at the start/finish location, along with face painting and other activities. The race will be held rain or shine.

All proceeds from this event will benefit the St. Mary’s d’Youville Fund for the Needy, which provides financial help for people in crisis, including helping pay for groceries, gas and prescriptions.
