Book, bake sale and raffle at Lithgow

AUGUSTA — A book sale, raffle and bake sale, sponsored by the Friends of Lithgow Library, will be held May 15-17 in the Reading Room of Lithgow Public Library, 45 Winthrop St.

All funds raised from the sale will go toward the Friends’ Capital Campaign to renovate and expand the historic library building.

The book sale hours are: Thursday, May 15, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, May 17, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The bake sale will be held May 15 and 16, during the book sale hours. The book sale, raffle and bake sale are all cash-only.

Tickets for a 50/50 cash drawing and a raffle featuring gift cards from local merchants are on sale at the Adult Services and Youth Services circulation desks until May 17.

Donations of gently used books, audio books, music CDs and DVDs are accepted until May 9. The library does not accept textbooks, encyclopedias, condensed books or moldy items.

Plant sale for shelter is now May 17

FARMINGTON — A plant sale to benefit the Franklin County Animal Shelter will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 17, in the courthouse parking lot in downtown Farmington. The event has been changed from May 10.

Franklin County Fiddlers concert

FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Fiddlers will perform a benefit concert at 7 p.m. Monday, May 12, at the Bjorn Auditorium at Mt. Blue High School. All donations go to the Relay for Life.

Tri Town Seniors  barbecue, election

JAY — On May 5 the Tri Town Seniors met at St. Rose Parish Hall with 20 members present. Following the opening ceremonies by Fernande Doiron, George Doiron sang “Happy Birthday” for all the members celebrating birthdays in May, June and July. He then sang “M_O_T_H_E_R” for all the mothers present. The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were read and accepted.

For old business Fern reminded everyone of the Chinese auction next week and the barbecue on May 19, which will be the last meeting of this season until Sept. 8.

The election of officers will take place on May 12.

The 50/50 was drawn and door prizes awarded. Following the meeting a birthday cake donated by Humana was served with ice cream. The members then enjoyed bingo and other games.
