East Auburn shines

East Auburn opened the season with a pair of victories in Auburn Suburban Little League Baseball.

East Auburn defeated Pepsi 11-0. Ben Cassidy and Christian Frey combined for the shutout. Cassidy gave up no hits and fanned eight of the 11 batters he faced in just 31/3 innings.

Frey finished up the shutout with 12/3 innings of scoreless work. Cassidy also led East Auburn offensively with three hits. Giles Paradie had the only other hit for East Auburn.

Kamden Masselli also reached base three of his four trips to the plate and scored two runs in the winning effort. Patrick Anthoine and Keenan St. Pierre reached base for Pepsi.

East Auburn battled out a hard-fought victory over Hardy Wolfe and Downing, 6-2.


Giles Paradie picked up the win on the mound for East Auburn, yielding just two hits and two runs and striking out seven over four innings of work.

Ben Cassidy pitched the final two frames. He was perfect in those two innings, striking out five of the six batters he faced. Paradie also led East Auburn offensively, going three for three at the plate and knocking in four runs.

Kamden Masselli went two for four for the victors. Christian Frey also added a hit for East Auburn. Bobby Tremaine and Joel Stubbs provided stellar pitching performances for Hardy Wolfe and Downing. George Romano and Tyler Begin provided Hardy Wolfe and Downing’s two hits.

Gifford’s 12, Pepsi 2

Giffords banged out 12 hits en route to a 12-2 win over Pepsi.

Luke Josephson, Austin Brown, Ricky Cote and Cam Sturgis were repeat hitters for Giffords. Chris Ivers also smacked a double.

Sturgis started the game on the mound and got solid relief from Dominic Priola and Daniel Cifelli. Pepsi’s Michael Derosiers ripped a double and scored a run. John Shea had the other hit for Pepsi.
