JAY — Police are investigating a break-in reported Sunday at a garage at Spruce Mountain Ski Area.

There was forced entry into the garage that houses a groomer, acting police Chief Richard Caton IV said Monday. Copper wire was stolen, he said.

Spruce Mountain Ski Club representatives estimate it will cost more than $1,000 to replace it, Caton said. An estimate of damage to the garage door has not been determined.

The break-in occurred between Monday, May 5, and Sunday, he said.

The mountain and majority of buildings are owned by the the towns of Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls.

The club owns the equipment and operates the mountain.
