1921 – 2014

FARMINGTON — Bertha G. Pomerleau, 92, a resident of Jay, passed away Monday morning, May 12, at the Sandy River Center in Farmington, where she had resided for the past two years.

She was born on Nov. 14, 1921, in Memramcook, New Brunswick, Canada, a daughter of Jude and Alice LeBlanc. Bertha attended school in Jay. On Oct. 13, 1958, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, she married her husband of 55 years, Gerard “Cal” Pomerleau. She had worked at Norwalk Shoe and was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church.

She was an excellent seamstress, making wedding gowns, quilts and other items. She also enjoyed other crafts and embroidering.

Bertha is survived by her husband, Gerard “Cal” Pomerleau, of Jay; two daughters, Cindy Magoon and her husband, Richard, of Jay and Rhonda Orff and her companion, Peter LaBrecque, of Farmington; four grandchildren, Greg, Katie, Dylan and Lauren; two great-grandchildren, Connor and Grady Gosselin; and three sisters, Evelyn LeBlanc of Massachusetts, Alice Doiron of Windham and Violet Bouque of Cape Cod, Mass.

She was predeceased by her parents; three brothers, Neil, Leonard and John LeBlanc; and three sisters, Leah Donahue, Albertine Arsenault and Irene Arsenault.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation and thanks to Dr. Fuson, Noreen Comeau and the entire staff at Sandy River Center for the loving care they gave Bertha.
