LEWISTON — The Central Maine Medical Center Infusion Center nursing staff has been selected by the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center as an honoree of “The One Hundred” for 2014.

The recognition celebrates individuals and organizations that are leading the fight against cancer and have dedicated themselves to making a difference.

“The One Hundred” were selected from some 1,000 nominations from around the world. The CMMC Infusion Center team will be honored at an awards ceremony in Boston on June 10.

Hematology-Oncology Associates, CMMC’s outpatient medical oncology service, supports an infusion center staffed by 10 registered nurses and nurse practitioners. They are dedicated to education and training so they can continue improving the care they provide to patients. Several staff nurses serve on one or more internal committees and actively participate in the department’s Quality Oncology Practice Initiative accreditation through the American Society of Clinical Oncologists.
