1938 – 2014
AUGUSTA — Karl B. Poole Sr., 75, of Augusta died Thursday, May 15, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care on Glenridge Drive after an extended illness.
He was born in Blanchard on July 18, 1938, the son of Edgar H. Poole and Margarite M. (Bartlett) Poole. He graduated from Monson Academy in 1958.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by McGee’s, State of Maine, Enterprise Car Rentals after working at Statler Tissue Co. in Augusta for 23 years.
He was a member of the Maine Harness Horseman’s Association, the National Rifle Association and a ten year member of the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association. He enjoyed horse racing, dog racing and car racing. He was a huge fan of Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots. Karl loved being outside, hunting, fishing, and laying in the sun. His final years were spent at Glenridge where he was well taken care of and impressed all those around him. He really enjoyed his final years.
Surviving are two daughters, Laurie Pelletier and her husband, Mark, of Augusta and Valerie Williams and her husband, Jeffrey, of Augusta; one son, Karl B. Poole Jr. and his wife, Heidi, of Sidney; six grandchildren, Justin and Ryon Pelletier, Keegan and Kennedy Brooks, and Michael and Mary Poole; and one great-grandson, Kole Taylor.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Marlene Poole.
