1921 – 2014

RUMFORD — Rita H. Wyman, 93, of Spruce Street passed away on Saturday, May 17, at Rumford Hospital following a brief illness, with loving family at her side.

She was born in Rumford on March 29, 1921, a daughter of Stephen A. and Mary (Casey) McPhee. Rita was educated in Mexico schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School.

She married John W. Wyman on July 25, 1942, and together they had an amazing 70 years of marriage.

Rita was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. Throughout the years, she enjoyed playing golf, cards, bowling, dancing, and spending time with her family. She had over 50 years of friendship with a group of neighborhood ladies who met regularly to knit, do crafts, and play cards.

Surviving are her children, John D. Wyman and wife, Diane, of Greer, S.C., James W. Wyman of Alburgh, Vt., Jeffrey L. Wyman and wife, Veda, of Topsham, Jean M. Wyman of Monmouth, and Jerome P. Wyman and wife, Paula, of Lyman; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, John; four sisters, Mary Sciaraffa, Barbara Fontaine, Jeannette Ziko and Theresa Vatalaro; and two brothers, Stephen McPhee and Donald McPhee.
