1935 – 2014

LEWISTON — Maurice W. Poulin, 78, a resident of Maple Street in Jay, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 20. His family surrounded him in all the preceding days to make certain he felt love and was at peace.

He was born in Chisholm on May 26, 1935, a son of Ida Jolicoeur Poulin and Arthur Poulin. He attended schools in Jay and graduated from Jay High School. He later attended seminary. On June 20, 1959, he married Marie Turmel Poulin in Chisholm at St. Rose of Lima Church.

Maurice had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed traveling to warmer climates and doing his crossword puzzles daily. He embraced life and was happiest surrounded by his family and friends. The most special time of year for him was Christmas, when he devoted his time and love to building his Christmas tree village around his tree for all to enjoy and travel miles to see.

He is survived by his brother, Rene Poulin and his wife, Joyce, of Jay; two sons, Thomas J. Poulin and his wife, Karen, of Leesburg, Va., and Steve Poulin and his wife, Kelly, of Marengo, Ohio; three daughters, Celeste Farrington and her husband, Dean, of Jay, Denise Lefebvre and her husband, Tony, of Chesterville and Doreen Wilcox and her husband, Dave, of North Yarmouth; 19 grandchildren, Nicole Poulin Clay, Danielle and Aimee Poulin, Pamila Kidder Hinton and Alex Kidder, Noah, Sam and Lauren Farrington, Justin, Eric and Christopher Wilkins, Jaimie and Shane Lefebvre, Luke, Leah and Mariah Wilcox and Shaina, Nathan and Nicholas Poulin; as well as three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his beloved wife, Marie; and siblings, Lorraine, Irma, Eugene “Mickey” and Laurier.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston for allowing their father to pass away with dignity and grace.
