AUBURN — The Oakdale Bridge, northbound on Route 202, which spans the Little Androscoggin River, will be replaced this construction season, according to a news release from the Maine Department of Transportation.
To complete the majority of the work, Route 202 northbound, also known as Washington Street northbound, will be closed to through traffic in the vicinity of the bridge.
Traffic will be rerouted via Chasse Street and Philomar Street to Route 202 southbound (Washington Street southbound), which will handle both northbound and southbound through traffic during the construction.
Though all work schedules are weather-dependent, it is expected that the bridge will close on June 1 and will remain closed until Nov. 15. There will be some additional work done in the spring of 2015.
All businesses in the vicinity of the Oakdale Northbound Bridge will be open and accessible. The detour route is for through traffic only.
MDOT advises motorists to allow extra travel time or to seek alternative routes.
