PORTLAND — The Cumberland County Civic Center will be renamed the Cross Insurance Arena.
Cross Insurance announced on Wednesday that it has bought the naming rights of the 7,000 seat Portland arena for $2.5 million. The company will hold the naming rights for 10 years.
The arena, which is home to the Portland Pirates hockey team, reopened in February after a 15-month long renovation project. The renovated venue features expanded concessions, locker rooms and luxury suites and upgraded security.
The insurance agency, a subsidiary of the Cross Financial Corp., also owns the naming rights for the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor under a 15-year agreement.
